Hermaphrodites - Intersex wonders of nature…
When I wrote my last blog here, I’d mentioned that I had originally intended to do a real hermaphrodite blog but found the lack of applicable content on the ‘net too limiting. In support of the reasoning behind this, one reader going by the name of chaosaymu wrote: “Sorry to tell you, human hermaphrodites — a person with functioning organs both male and female — are (as far as science is concerned) a biological impossibility.”
To that I agree, but only to a certain extent. It all depends upon how we interpret the argument with regard to “functioning”. Granted, I accept that hermaphrodites - individuals born with both male & female sexual organs - may not be developed to the extent required to fulfil dual sexual roles in the reproductive process, but I know for a fact that this particular medical condition prevents them from enjoying their sexuality.
I have an acquaintance here in the UK who, although being born with the genitalia of both sexes, had been brought up as a boy and subsequently went on to fulfill the masculine role with his sexual partners. However, a couple of years ago, he had a change of heart and decided to try living as a female for a while, choosing to engage in full-penetration sex with his vagina. How profoundly versatile is that, that one can freely alter their sexual orientation and have the appropriate “hardware” to do so completely?!
I was at a loss as to how to refer to this new-found extension of his sexuality. Was he merely bisexual now, since he had enjoyed sexual relations both with men & women? And, if so, how would I describe his sexuality prior to this?! As with so many things, any attempt at labelling was a total failure. Had he previously been heterosexual? Homosexual?? It’s impossible to say since he was aptly equipped to deal with both in a sexual situation, and I was a bit embarrassed that I even felt the need to label him in such a manner.
It was then that I discovered the term “intersexual“, coined specifically to refer to those born with some degree of sexual dimorphism (as “hermaphrodite” had come to be considered derogatory, although there are now a number of dual-gender individuals seeking to reclaim this term). In the educational film “Hermaphrodites Speak“, we even learn that the surgery often used to “correct” this condition can seriously impair sexual functioning and arousal, as well as all but eliminate the likelihood of even achieving orgasm (how horrible is that?!)! :~(
So, although they may not be able to participate in the reproductive process, let’s not discount hermaphrodites as being asexual individuals unable to express their intimacy in the same manner as us “unisexuals”. While we’re limited in the scope of the sex acts in which we can engage, these wonders of nature can potentially enjoy every possible option available for intersexual stimulation (how lucky is that?!)! ;~)
Hermaphrodite porn, however, is another matter altogether. I have been led to believe that most all, if not all, hermaphrodite pornography for sale consists of high-quality prosthesis. I wanted to mention something that another person said. A true hermaphrodite can have both a penis and a vagina, however the clitoris is not included. During the early stages of a pregnancy when the sex is being determined, a clitoris may become a penis, and ovaries drop to become testicles. Because of this, if during this stage, the body determines that it is a girl and changes it’s mind, a vagina may be created, but the ovaries end up dropping anyway or the clitoris becomes a penis. Both do NOT have to change for this to occur. This is why some hermaphrodite can reproduce as a male, some can as a woman and some cant do either. But, I reiterate, neither situation will allow for one person to impregnate themselves because it’s either testicles or ovaries…not both.

John, it is impossible for a person to impersonate themselves. Female and male bodies grow similarly. If a baby is female, she will grow ovaries. If the baby is male, it will grow testes (i.e. ovaries and testes are one in the same). If a baby is female, she will grow a clit. If a baby is male, he will grow a penis. If a baby is born female, she will grow “lips.” If a baby is born male, he will grow testes. It’s impossible for a baby to have both ovaries and testes. Therefore an intersexed person cannot impregnate themselve.
Medman, I know a little about intersexed babies. Their penises DO look fake. Some intersexed people have large clitories, but they are usually not that big. The penises are also in odd places. It should be about where the clit is. There are some prosthesis that look like the one’s the women are wearing. I’d have to say fake.

This is so obviously fake. First of all, an intersex individual wouldn’t have a full 8 inch hard-on and a completely feminine and normal appearing vagina. Second of all, you can’t have a penis AND a clitoris, since the penis and the clitoris is the same thing when the fetus is developing inside the womb. As for all of you who seem to think you’re right. well, you’re still wrong. I will agree, that a hermaphrodite cannot have a clitoris AND a penis. But that does not mean that they could not have sensitive vaginal lips. The only true hermaphrodite is a very, VERY uncommon genetic pairing of XX/XXY. That’s right, two full chromosonal chains - one Female, one Kleinfelters Male. There may be only a half dozen on the planet right now - if that. This will produce a fully functional vagina as well as a penis (in place of a clit) with male gonads often undescended, or just behind the labia. Without any hormone treatments this very rare circumstance will result in a person with fully reproductive female genetalia and a functional, but non-reproductive set of male genetalia. It will also result in normal female breast and body growth, without any typical ‘male’ side effects of excess body hair, adam’s apple or heavy brow. Testostrone production is exceedingly minimal, and the penis is stunted, rarely growing to more than 4″ erect.
The drawback to this seemingly freakish multi-sexed creature? Extreme liklihood of mental and physical handicaps because of the irregular chromosomal configration.
The more common type of ‘hermaphrodite’ is the XX/XY double chromosonal pair which results in the typical “shemales.” Standardized male genetalia, functional and most often sterile - and often a split scrotum with vagina, or, if estrogen is induced, a slightly ‘puffy’ vagina - also non-reproductive. Bodies tend to be a hodge-podge of the genders. Male development with extreme gynomastia as well as patchy body-hair which isn’t quite masculine, but too extreme to be feminine. These ‘hermaphrodites’ are often given hormones in adolescence when they parents decide the gender they will pursue. This will make them either decidedly male or female in appearance. In rare cases, early introduction of testosterone may cause full descent of the gonads and serility might be averted.

Alright, Alright, to clear things up I don’t know if those pics are real, but I do know for a fact that there are real hermaphrodites. I have been married to one for three years!! My question is not about the sexual capabilities of hermaphrodites. I’m just wondering about the normal functioning of the genitals such as urinating. Do both organs urinate? If so, how does a hermaphrodite choose which restroom to use and how do they hide that they are using a different organ to urinate than the others in the restroom?

My mother was a scrub tech on a few cases of babies born with both genitalia. She tells me that 9 out of 10 cases are “delt with” by the parents at a very young age. Only one in 25000 is a hermaphrodite. So there is only 1 in 250,000 adults is a hermaphrodite with both genitalia. One in four at best is an acceptable age, good looking, and horny. I believe that whether an intersexed person exists or not is not the real issue here… the real issue is that if they do exist, they are people with feelings and need to be treated as such, not like a freak show. If I met a woman that had both sexes and I fell in love with her, it would not matter to me if she had both because you fall in love with the person not the sexual organ…If that is all anyone is concerned with then they are demented and need to seek immediate psychological counseling. As far as being shy about being intimate because of intersex situations, I can understand that because of the narrow minds that people have. And as far as having gender assignment surgery, I believe that is wrong. you are who you are and noone should change that because God does not make mistakes.

In some ways, I can relate to how an intersexed person may feel about society and the treatment of people who do not conform with ‘acceptable’ gender roles. I happen to be a m2f transsexual, and we cop a lot of flak from society just because we happen to be different. Some will call us poofters, freaks, homos, and an assortment of other nasty names, but we are people as well. I’m a tranny who just happens to be attracted to girls, even though I see myself as one, which effectively makes me a lesbian.
Intersex people DO exist, though this IS an umbrella term as it includes those with both sets of genitalia, but also other genital anomalies, a more dictionarial description would be those with ambiguous or uncertain genitalia. I am acquainted with at least two intersex people, they are not very open about that for obvious reasons because society is so reluctant to change. Neither Intersexed individuals, nor transsexuals get much protection under laws in many areas of the world, which results in a lot of hate crimes, which should never happen if you ask me, or at least they should be punished accordingly, a rare occurence…
As for those who just want to get in bed with a hermaphrodite, how about you think about the person, because they are people as well, not just some trophy to flash about to your drunken friends. I wouldn’t mind getting together with an intersexed person, but if I did happen to get that lucky, I would treat them with 100% respect, because I believe they deserve no less, and I would love them for the person they are, not because they just happen to be uniquely equipped.

The people saying they want to fuck hermaphrodites are the same ones on regular old porn sites saying “wow shes hot i wanna fuck her”…at least they’re not differentiating much.

Just a 45 year old regular hetero open minded guy who use was mostly attracted women of my age now when I was much younger, but now is attracted to women much younger than I now. I am also open to intersex persons and very passable transgender M to F, and some very attractive older women, go figure.
Just a regular Hetro Guy: I have never be attracted to guys from a looks point of view, but have always be very open minded and very versatile in every way with the right type of gal if you no what I mean. I have sought out very passable transgender persons in the past, but what I guess what I am sincerely attracted to in a true intersex kyrotone xx/xy person with a pretty face. Susan, I assure you that anything you think, feel, or do is normal if it continues for a long enough time. It doesn’t matter what others think or say. “That’s not normal” is really an incomplete sentence. It should be “That’s not normal, to me” or “That’s not normal for most people”, which is fine because you’re not them and their preferences are not yours.
